Most men are not searching for a Welsh male chorus. They are searching for something good to do with their time. Something social. Something challenging. Something that gets them out of the house and gives Thursday night a purpose.
You are joining more than a rehearsal.
BWMC performs around the community, travels, sings at special events and has been known to continue the evening somewhere with a decent pint. The choir has performed from Ontario to the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall. But most of it starts the same way: showing up on Thursday night.
Retirement can leave a lot more empty space in the week than people expect.
If your husband, dad, brother or friend misses the routine, the people, or the sense of purpose that came with work, choir can give him somewhere to be, something to learn and a group of men to belong to.

Yes, you can do this.
“I cannot read music.”
That is not a deal-breaker. Many members did not read music when they joined. You will learn with the group, get help along the way, and have access to the music and rehearsal tracks so you can practise at home.
“I am not Welsh.”
Neither are most of the choir. Welsh heritage is welcome, not required. When we sing in Welsh, we go over the words phonetically together so nobody is expected to already know the language.
“I have not sung since school.”
Very normal. You do not need a polished choir résumé. You need enough curiosity to come through the door once.
“What if I am not good enough?”
Come hear the rehearsal first. Meet the guys. Sing a little. Nobody is asking you to decide your entire musical future on night one.
