Last Updated: March 5, 2024

The Burlington Welsh Male Chorus (BWMC) and the Burlington Welsh Ladies Chorus (BWLC) performed a magnificent concert for an audience of more than 200 people, wowing them with their amazing interpretations of a wide range of songs from South Africa, the USA, Canada, Italy, and Wales. The occasion promoted a sense of community and celebration of Welsh culture in addition to showcasing the skills of both choirs.

Highlights of the Concert:
Before the two choirs took the stage, the atmosphere was tense with anticipation. Under the direction of Janice Beninger, and piano accompaniment from Larisa Gulenco and Christopher Hunt, they gave outstanding performances that enthralled the audience with their passionate delivery and harmonized voices. Sung with genuine emotion and accuracy, the repertoire included a broad range of songs from stirring anthems to traditional folk melodies. The organ played by Christopher Hunt added another level to the National Anthems and the final song “What Would I Do Without My Music”. The organ, with its rich and resonant tones, had the result of evoking deep emotion and added a sense of grandeur and solemnity to the performance. The choirs demonstrated how versatile they were as the evening went on, switching between moving ballads and upbeat choruses with ease. The crowd responded well, applauding each time a performance finished and joining in for Wales' and Canada's national anthems. In their capacity as masters of ceremonies, Ian Hughes and Johanna Zemmelink engaged the crowd with anecdotes and fascinating facts. They kept things lively and interesting.

Afterglow at Ned Devine's:
Following the concert, over 120 guests convened for a delightful afterglow at Ned Devine's. As attendees chatted and shared their favorite concert memories, excitement was in the air. The addition of a delicious buffet meal catered by Ned Devine's surely enhanced the event's overall atmosphere. The B.O.Y.S. fronted by Bill Richards, provided entertainment that lifted people’s spirits and added to the joyous mood. As the evening wore on, the BWMC and the BWLC entertained the party goers with impromptu after-glow classics. Their performances were met with applause and cheers, proving the ongoing popularity of these kinds of gatherings.

Thanks to all Volunteers:
As always too numerous to mention individually but you know who you are. BWMC sincerely appreciates all of the volunteers from both choirs for their vital assistance in making this concert a success. Your perseverance and commitment made it all possible.
